《為學而讀：兒童文學的認知進路/新世紀英語語言文學界面研究叢書》是荷蘭約翰·本杰明出版公司的“兒童文學、文化與認知”（Children’s Literature，Culture，and Cognition）系列叢書之一。作者瑪麗亞·尼科拉耶娃是劍橋大學教育學院教授，研究領域包括文學理論、北歐文學、比較文學、符號學、敘事學、認知詩學等。她曾獲莫斯科國立語言大學碩士和斯德哥爾摩大學比較文學博士學位，在斯德哥爾摩大學教授兒童文學和文學理論長達25年之久，兼任美國麻省大學、圣地亞哥州立大學、芬蘭奧伯學術大學客座教授，英國伍斯特大學榮譽教授，多家國際學術期刊編委和《牛津兒童文學百科全書》資深編輯。《為學而讀：兒童文學的認知進路/新世紀英語語言文學界面研究叢書》基于認知心理學和腦科學的研究成果，開創(chuàng)性地研究了年輕讀者對小說的認知和情感投入，探索了小說如何激發(fā)感知、注意力、想象力和其他認知活動，并為年輕讀者開拓了全新的文學思維方式。作為認知批評研究的一個重要里程碑，該書提供了令人信服的實證，證明閱讀小說對于年輕人的智力、情感和社閃發(fā)展是不可或缺的。
