中國在歷朝歷代的演進中，形成了極為豐富、系統完整又頗具特色的國家治理體系。本書從思想理念、制度安排和方法運用三個方面對這個結構進行了分析。在思想觀念方面，總結提出十三個基本概念，涵蓋了古代中國治理很基本的思想主張，涉及自然觀、世界觀、道德觀、價值觀、生態觀、治理觀等等。在制度安排方面，我們概括出四大制度體系。在方法運用方面，提煉了九大方法，既是古代中國政治家治國理政的經典智慧，也是中國人在漫長的歷史過程中所積淀形成的基本的文化性格和思維方式，是中國人很為典型的精神氣質。

徐偉新，中央黨校原副校長，曾任《學習時報》社總編輯兼社長，中央黨校進修部主任、培訓部主任、研究生院院長、機關黨委書記。中國辯證唯物主義研究會副會長，全國婦聯第八、九、十屆執行委員，第十一屆常務委員。國務院有突出貢獻專家，享受政府特殊津貼。主要著作有《落目的輝煌——17、18世紀全球變局中的“康乾盛世”》《社會動力論》《新社會動力觀》《社會主義核心價值觀研究》《文化新思維》《中國新常態》等。
