聯(lián)合國193個會員國首腦一致通過了《2030年可持續(xù)發(fā)展議程》，議程設(shè)定了17項可持續(xù)發(fā)展目標(biāo)，涉及到社會、經(jīng)濟和環(huán)境以及與和平、正義和高效機構(gòu)相關(guān)的重要方面，為今后的發(fā)展制定了藍圖。該議程于2016年1月1日正式啟動。為積極配合聯(lián)合國這一重大行動，探討以儒學(xué)為主干的中華文化能夠為解決當(dāng)代人類社會面臨諸多問題提供什么樣的智慧和啟示，闡釋儒學(xué)文化在促進世界和平，實現(xiàn)人類可持續(xù)發(fā)展方面的價值，國際儒學(xué)聯(lián)合以“儒學(xué)與人類可持續(xù)發(fā)展”為主題向國內(nèi)外知名學(xué)者征集論文。全書包含22篇論文，涉及儒學(xué)與全球治理、儒學(xué)與人類命運共同體、儒學(xué)與生態(tài)文明、儒學(xué)與文明對話、儒學(xué)與全球倫理，儒學(xué)·經(jīng)濟·教育等子題。

國際儒學(xué)聯(lián)合會（英文名：International Confucian Association，簡稱：ICA）是由中國、韓國、日本、美國、德國、新加坡、越南等國家和中國香港、中國臺灣地區(qū)與儒學(xué)研究有關(guān)的學(xué)術(shù)團體共同發(fā)起，于1994年10月5日在中國北京正式宣告成立；1995年7月在中國民政部注冊登記，是具有法人地位的國際性學(xué)術(shù)團體。聯(lián)合會永久會址設(shè)在中國北京。國際儒聯(lián)的建設(shè)宗旨為研究儒學(xué)思想，繼承儒學(xué)菁華，發(fā)揚儒學(xué)精神，以促進人類之自由平等，和平發(fā)展與繁榮。
