本書以類型電影為章節進行介紹和分析，共分為十個單元，基本涵蓋了主要的電影類型，在每個章節中對各電影類型的定義，亞類型，特點，發展歷史進行了介紹，并輔以各時期有代表性的電影作品簡介，同時呈現了各類型的相關文化背景知識，在練習部分力求以多種練習形式對學習者的聽、說、讀、寫、譯進行全方位的訓練和提高。作為多年從事基礎英語教學工作的教師，希望能通過這次美國類型電影與文化的教材編寫工作促進多層次復合型人才的培養，豐富和充實英語選修課類教材的建設。

作者簡介： 陸潔：碩士，蒙古族，北京科技大學外國語學院副教授，本科生通識課程“基礎外語”一級至三級主講教師，本科生公共選修課程“趣味英語聽說”“美國類型電影與文化”主講教師；在各類期刊發表論文十余篇，參與多個科研項目，編寫教材及專著多部。 李曉東：碩士，漢族，北京科技大學外國語學院副教授，教授課程包括“基礎外語”“英美經典影視賞析”“商務英語聽說”等。在各類期刊發表論文十余篇，主持并參與多個科研項目，參與編寫教材及學術專著多部。
