  Currently, global energy development is facing major challenges of energy resource shortage,environmental pollution, climate change and people without access to electricity.The fundamental solution is to transform the forms of energy development, to accelerate the implementation of “two replacements” , the clean energy replacement and electric energy replacement, and to establish a clean and efficient global energy configuration platform-Global Energy Interconnection (GEl).GEI is a globally interconnected strong and smart grid supported by Ultra High Voltage(UHV)backbone grids and dedicated primarily to the transmission of clean energy. It integrates energy transmission, energy resource configuration, information interaction, smart service and market transaction, with great scale economic effects and comprehensive utilization values. The essence of GEI is “Smart Grid UHV Grid Clean Energy”.GEI is a cross-border, cross-field and interdisciplinary giant system engineering, which imposes urgent demands on interconnectivity, mutual trust and interoperability of electric power systems and far beyond. Since 2016, in order to meet the future demand of GEl and lead the development of relevant industries, the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization (GEIDCO) has conducted research on GEl standard system. Based on the latest international research achievements, GEIDCO has formulated the G/oba/ Energy /nterconnectlon Standard System Research 2018 as a top-level design framework and technical guideline for GEl standard after soliciting opinions from experts of the industry.This report sifts through a range of GEl standard researches conducted by International Standardization Organizations, cross-border institutions and the world's major countries.
