本冊志書是對2015年10月以前在中國發現并已發表的副爬行類（包括波羅蜥類、前棱蜥類、鋸齒龍類）、大鼻龍類和龜鱉類化石材料的系統厘定總結！吨袊偶棺祫游镏镜诙韮蓷惻佬蓄慀B類第二冊（總第六冊）副爬行類大鼻龍類龜鱉類》包括19科69屬126種。每個屬、種均有鑒別特征、產地與層位。在科級以上的階元中并有概述，對該階元當前的研究現狀、存在問題等做了綜述。在部分階元的記述之后有一評注，為編者在編寫過程中對發現的問題或編者對該階元新認識的闡述。《中國古脊椎動物志第二卷兩棲類爬行類鳥類第二冊（總第六冊）副爬行類大鼻龍類龜鱉類》附有199張化石照片及插圖。
