《當代歐美漢學要著研讀》內容簡介：與漢語學習同樣存在問題的是中國文學和文化的學習：現在很多年輕人對本國傳統的東西不感興趣，文學和影視作品喜歡外國的，連過節也愛過洋節日；課堂教學和課外閱讀只背文學基本原理和文學史，記住一些條條杠杠，或只讀“圖”，不讀書，要讀也讀一些時尚流行書。凡此種種，都是當前大學中文系教學中存在的問題。為此，我們可透過世界的“漢語熱”，反觀漢語和中國文化學習的重要性，使我們的學生真正明白：自己首先要尊重本國的語言文學和文化，即使是中國人，要學好中文也是不容易的，通曉中國文化更是艱巨。

Certainly the world, the social world in particular, was, as it were, just as imperfect as man. Evil demons existed alongside the good spirits but, givenrespectively the educational level of man and the charismaticquality of the ruler, the world was as good as could be. Theorder of the world resulted from the natural development ofcultural needs and the unavoidable division of labor, which inturn led to collision of interests. According to the Master'srealistic conceptions, the basic impulses of human conductwere economic and sexual. Hence, creatural wickednessand a "state of sin" were not necessary reasons either forcoercive power or social subordination. The latter wereconsidered simply as the economic state of affairs wheremeans of subsistence were scarce in relation to ever-growing needs. Without coercive power a war of allagainst all would result. Therefore, the coercive order perse, the differentiation of property, and the struggles ofeconomic interests were not, in principle, problems at all.Although the school developed a cosmogony,Confucianism was in large measure bereft of metaphysicalinterest. The scientific claims of the school were no lessmodest. The development of mathematics had progressed totrigonometry——but this soon decayed because it was notused. @ Confucius evidently had no knowledge of theprecession of the equinoxes which had been known in theMiddle East for a long time.
