本書建立在作者十多年科研和教學的基礎之上,全書可分為三部分。第1章為**部分,介紹遺傳研究群體,主要內容包括常見群體類型、基因型數據的初步整理和分析、基因效應和遺傳方差的定義和計算、單環境和多環境表型觀測值的方差分析、以及基因型值和遺傳力的估計等內容。第2~3章為第二部分,介紹雙親群體連鎖分析和遺傳圖譜構建,主要內容包括世代轉移矩陣、兩個座位上基因型的理論頻率、兩個基因座位間重組率的估算、作圖函數和遺傳圖譜構建算法等內容。第4~10章為第三部分,介紹數量性狀基因的作圖原理和方法,主要內容包括單標記分析、簡單區間作圖、完備區間作圖方法、上位型互作、與環境互作的QTL作圖,以及有選擇群體、自然群體、無性系雜交群體和多親本群體的基因定位等內容。
