本書收錄了2018年在貴州平塘召開的（第三屆）國際射電天文論壇RAF（Radio Astronomy Forum）研討會的學術報告（整理的文章）。主要包括：500米口徑球面射電望遠鏡（FAST）調試進展、試運行、早期科學準備等；南非SKA探路者MeerKAT望遠鏡陣列的建設情況、研究計劃等；澳大利亞ASKAP望遠鏡陣列和荷蘭APERTIF陣列等SKA探路者們的巡天情況； FAST和SKA探路者之間廣泛合作建議和設想； 對中性氫、脈沖星、中性氫強度成圖，以及宇宙磁場等射電巡天研究成果。論文集收錄的論文緊密結合國家重大科技基礎設施FAST（中國天眼）的核心科學目標，開展廣泛國內外合作，特別探討與計劃中的國際大望遠鏡陣列SKA的互補性合作，有很強實用價值。作者大都是國內外射電天文界著名專家教授，專業性強，達到了射電天文領域國際前沿水平。

2018射電天文論壇論文集FAST-meerKAT以及平方公里陣探路者們的 作者簡介
彭勃，中國科學院國家天文臺研究員，1993年獲天體物理博士學位。 1993年參與10國大射電望遠鏡LT（SKA）籌備，共同發起、提出和發展SKA中國概念及其先導FAST。1994年組建并任LT課題組長，1998年FAST項目委員會主任，1999年SKA組織董事，2005年大射電望遠鏡實驗室主任，2008年FAST工程副經理，2012年SKA 973首席科學家。長期從事射電源巡天、瞬變天體、星系形成與演化、天文技術與方法研究。主持完成國家自然科學基金（重大）、中科院（重點）及科技部973項目等。發表國際第一篇SKA（Square Kilometre Array）無線電環境選址論文等約130篇，做邀請報告上百次。 現任貴州射電天文臺臺長、FAST工程經理部副經理、國家天文臺射電天文技術實驗室主任。自1994年，代表中國長期參與平方公里陣望遠鏡（SKA）國際合作，與荷蘭、德國、英國、南非、澳大利亞等射電天文學家建立了長期友好合作。
