新書--寰宇文獻Natural History系列:植物學入門 作者簡介
約翰·林德利(John Lindley)，1799年生于英國諾維奇.十六歲時，他離家到倫敦一家植物種子商鋪當伙計。在此期間，他結識了植物學家威廉·胡克和博物家約瑟夫·班克斯。二十一歲時出版了名作《薔薇屬》，并被選為倫敦林奈學會會員。后又任倫敦園藝協會理事和倫敦大學植物學講座教授，1828年被選入皇家學會。著作另有《毛地黃屬》《珍奇植物圖選》《植物學入門》等。
