學科發展報告（2014—2015）由中國科協組織，全國學會進行編寫，凝聚了33 個全國學會、1200 多位專家學者的研究成果。全書共分四個部分：**部分綜合分析了2014—2018年度本學科的發展情況，梳理、總結了本學科的主要進展，分析了學科發展總體趨勢，對學科未來的發展提出了理性思考；第二部分為各分支學科的發展報告，介紹了各學科近年來的研究進展、國內外發展水平比較、各學科的發展方向與對策建議等；第三部分為學科發展報告主要內容的英文介紹；第四部分為與本學科進展有關的主要科技成果資料。

中國科學技術協會（CAST）是中國科學技術工作者的群眾組織，由全國學會、協會、研究會和地方科協組成，組織系統橫向跨越絕大部分自然科學學科和大部分產業部門，是一個具有較大覆蓋面的網絡型組織體系。1958年12月，經黨中央批準，全國科聯和全國科普合并成立中國科學技術協會。
