第十章怎樣教聽力
作者在這一章里首先討論了聽力課教學(xué)的重要性。英語作為一門世界性的語言,其變體間的差異是不容忽視的,這種差異不僅體現(xiàn)在語音方面,還體現(xiàn)在語法方面。通過聽力課教學(xué),學(xué)生可以全面地了解到各種英語變體間的差異。聽力材料通過廣告、新聞廣播、詩歌、講演、電話對話等形式使學(xué)生真切地接觸、感受語言,從而很自然地獲得語法、詞匯方面的知識(shí)和關(guān)于語言、節(jié)奏、語調(diào)、音高、重音方面的重要信息。這對于學(xué)生的語言習(xí)得(languageacquisition)是大有益處的。
聽力課教學(xué)有別于其他教學(xué)活動(dòng):首先,聽者往往難以控制甚至無法控制所聽材料的語速,錄音內(nèi)容的不間斷性難免引起學(xué)生緊張焦慮的情緒。作者因此建議教師引導(dǎo)學(xué)生先聽懂大意,而不是立刻獲取細(xì)節(jié)信息。其次,聽力材料中的語言往往不完整,不正式,經(jīng)常出現(xiàn)重復(fù)、停頓,學(xué)生只有了解了聽力材料中語言的口語體特征,才能從有聲言語中有效地獲取意義。
如何教聽力?作者認(rèn)為有六條準(zhǔn)則要遵守:要有良好的教學(xué)設(shè)備做保障;上課前,教師和學(xué)生都要做必要的準(zhǔn)備;學(xué)生往往需要聽兩到三遍,以補(bǔ)充聽**遍時(shí)丟掉的信息;教師應(yīng)該鼓勵(lì)學(xué)生注意聽力材料的內(nèi)容,而不僅僅是語言形式本身;教師應(yīng)該根據(jù)學(xué)生的聽力水平布置不同的聽力任務(wù);教師要充分利用教材。學(xué)生的需求、程度和興趣將決定教師所使用的聽力材料。盡管聽力材料不可能總是絕對地"真實(shí)"(Authentic),但至少應(yīng)該是"逼真"(Realistic)的。作者按照不同的等級分別舉例說明聽力課教學(xué)是如何循序漸進(jìn)的,表明課前的準(zhǔn)備工作是一個(gè)重要的環(huán)節(jié)。作者*后指出錄像可以提供*生動(dòng)的語言和文化信息。
