去年，國(guó)家教育部以新的英語(yǔ)教學(xué)理念對(duì)大學(xué)英語(yǔ)四、六級(jí)考試做了改革，制訂出了新的考試題型，并且將閱讀理解部分的比例調(diào)整為35％，其中精讀部分占25％，快速閱讀部分占10％。對(duì)精讀部分的測(cè)試，除篇章讀解外，還包括對(duì)篇章語(yǔ)境中的詞匯的理解；對(duì)快速閱讀部分的測(cè)試，注重的是準(zhǔn)確捕捉主要信息及速讀能力。
本書(shū)瞄準(zhǔn)新的大學(xué)英語(yǔ)四、六級(jí)考試，以理念新、選材新、練習(xí)題型新，從而達(dá)到有效提高應(yīng)試能力為編寫(xiě)宗旨，全套書(shū)4冊(cè)，每?jī)?cè)14或15單元，每單元1篇主題性文章、1篇速讀文章、3篇精讀文章。
結(jié)構(gòu)如下：
1.對(duì)主題性文章的閱讀。包括：詞匯、短語(yǔ)的注釋和練習(xí)，難句的注釋和翻譯練習(xí)，理解練習(xí)及思考題。
2.快速閱讀（skimming and scanning）。包括：判斷練習(xí)，根據(jù)文章完成句子的練習(xí)。
3.仔細(xì)閱讀（reading in depth）。包括：填詞練習(xí)（**篇），選擇練習(xí)（第二篇、第三篇）。
本書(shū)在主題性文章中加入了提示語(yǔ)，目的是引導(dǎo)讀者把握文章主旨，迅速捕捉文章中的重要信息。這是本書(shū)編寫(xiě)上的一大特色。
